Chipola Players And Coach Named All-Conference
MARIANNA—Six Chipola basketball players have earned All-Panhandle Conference honors for the 2010-11 regular season. Chipola also boasts the men’s coach of the year.
Four Chipola players were named on the First Team All-Conference list: Marcos Knight, Keith Dewitt, Sam Grooms and Geron Johnson.
Two Indians were named Second Team All-Conference: Shamar Bowden and Elijah Pittman.
Chipola men’s coach Jake Headrick was named Panhandle Conference Coach of the Year after his Indians captured the Conference Championship. The Indians will defend their state title in a first round tournament game with St. Petersburg, Thursday, March 3, at 6 p.m., in the Milton H. Johnson Health Center.
Six Chipola Lady Indians garnered All-Conference Honors. Chipola’s Jasmine Shaw was named First Team All-Conference and was one of four All-State selections.
Second Team All-Conference picks from Chipola are Carleeda Green, Jeniece Johnson, Brieona Warner and Ance Celmina. Sara Djassi was an Honorable Mention pick on the All Conference team.
The Lady Indians ended the season ranked third in the FCCAA state poll, and third in the Panhandle Conference race.
