Baseball results from Chipley and Bonifay
Chipley teams eliminated from Dixie Majors and Pre-Majors

CHIPLEY - Chipley lost against Marion County and was eliminated from the state Dixie Majors playoffs 13-10, Tuesday.
Chipley trailed 6-0 going into the sixth inning when momentum began to pick up. The Tigers repeatedly loaded the bases scored four runs to get back in the game.
Marion County held a 13-7 lead going into the seventh inning when the host Tigers picked up three more runs, but fell short to be eliminated from the playoffs.
Jacksonville beat Hernando, 3 to 0 Tuesday evening, leaving Marion County to face Jacksonville Wednesday.
In the pre-majors, Wahneta defeated Chipley, 12-2; and Marion County beat West Volusia, 16-0.
Wednesday’s pre-majors title game will be Wahneta against Marion County.
Jacksonville won against Marion County, 11-6, making them state champs of the Dixie Majors, July 16.
Marion County won against Hernando, 6-1.
The winners of the Dixie Majors and Pre-Majors will be going to the World Series, being held in Dyersberg, Tenn., July 26 - Aug. 1.

Black Sox Dizzy Dean Champions
The Black Sox took the Florida Dizzy Dean Title by defeating Lynn Haven 15-0 in five innings Tuesday. They advance to the World Series in Mississippi. The World Series begins in Southhaven, MS on July 26.

Rutherford and Bozeman advance to the finals in the losers bracket at 9 a.m. Wednesday with the winner facing Pensacola Angels at 11:30 a.m. If Pace wins the tournament is over; if Rutherford wins there will be a second game Thursday at 9 a.m.
Host Holmes County's 16-under team was eliminated from the Dizzy Dean tournament Tuesday morning, falling to Rutherford 9-1. Holmes County lost 20-2 to the Pace Angels in the opening round Sunday and won by default over Tallahassee Messer Monday 9-0 to advance in the loser's bracket of the double-elimination tournament.
Dixie Majors and Pre-Majors Results

The Chipley High School baseball team, hosting this years Dixie Majors tournament, won against Wahneta 12 to one July 12.
Chipley gained five runs in the first inning, partially due to the umpire’s inability to keep hold of the ball, and left Wahneta with only one.
In the third inning Chipley showed no mercy as they quickly struck out the first three batters. Once Chipley was infield they scored an additional three runs.
The fourth inning was the same as the third, with Chipley quickly striking out the first three batters to move on into the infield, where they would score an additional four runs.
In the fifth inning Chipley struck out the first two batters and the third was struck out after hitting a ground ball and not making it to first base, ending the game with a ten-ball streak.
“We played really well today and some of the younger players really stepped up,” said Scotty Rudd, Chipley player. “I wanted to thank all of our fans, it was really hot and you guys sticking with us means a lot.”
Hernando and Marion County were tied eight to eight at the bottom of the seventh inning with only one out when the rain postponed their game till further notice.
The rest of the evening games were canceled until Sunday
In the Dixie Pre-Majors, Marion County won against Sebring 10 to zero.
The games against Hernando and Sneads, as well as West Volusia and Chipley are canceled until Sunday as well.
Dizzy Dean
The Dizzy Dean playoffs in Bonifay were also cut short due to rain with action scheduled to resume Sunday.
