Lady Devils open season 1-1

BONIFAY – The Holmes County Lady Blue Devils opened their season with a bang be defeating perennial playoff contender Cottondale 51-34 at home Monday, Nov. 16.

The Lady Devils were led by Hannah Pippin with 17 points as the team used a solid third quarter to take control of the game against the Lady Hornets.

“We did not play well offensively in the first half,” Coach Devon Miles said, “but we had a great third quarter. I thought we played solid defense the entire game.

Mika Morre scored 8 points, while Brandi Bruebaker tallied 5 and Mikayla Moore, Jenna Belser and Shelby Clark scored 4 each. Kayla Walker, Summer Beasley and Zoie Hodge each had 2 points.

Belser and Bruebaker led on the boards with 6 rebounds each, while Moore had 5. Miles led with 5 assists.

“Everyone on the team contributed in some way,” Miles said, “and that is always a positive. Hannah Pippin had an outstanding game.”

 

HCHS falls to Walton

The Lady Devils ran into a strong Walton team in their second game, falling 81-55 on Thursday. Pippin again led with 12 points, while Belser and Moore had 9 each and Shelby Clark scored 8. Bruebaker and Hodge scored 4 each, Moore had 3, Beasley had 2 and Selina Long scored 1 from the free throw line. Belser had 9 rebounds and Pippin had 6. Belser led with 4 assists.
