Wewa's Jones designated for assignment by Braves

Wewahitchka native Brandon Jones was designated for assignment by the Atlanta Braves on Jan. 12 to make room for newly-signed Eric Hinske on the team’s 40-man roster.

Jones, 26 and an outfielder, could be outright released, placed on waivers or traded within the week, and there still is a possibility he could return to the Braves’ minor league system. He has a .257 career major league batting average in 51 games with the Braves.
