Softball: Arnold sweeps pair of tourney games

Arnold 15, Altha 0; Arnold 5, Munroe 2: ALTHA — Arnold’s Lauren Butherus and winning pitcher Delaney Dempsey each had three hits in a win over Altha in the Wildcats’ tournament.

Butherus had three RBIs while Dempsey had an RBI and a double.  Arnold’s Michelle Ostrovsky was 2-4 with a double and two RBIs,  JoJo Booker was 2-4 and  Lauren Turner 1-2  with two RBIs.

Arnold had 14 hits in the five-inning win. Dempsey pitched a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts.

The Marlins (11-4) also beat Munroe. Maddie Kolovich was 2-2 with a double and two RBIs and Chander Ferguson was 1-2 with a double. Katie Godfrey was the winning pitcher. She gave up five hits and struck out three. Dempsey recorded a save.

Arnold hosts Chipley on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in a District 2-3A game. Arnold is 5-2 in the district. The Arnold junior varsity hosts Mosley on Monday at 4 p.m.
