Arnold's Hodges 36th, Rams' Wyllie 40th at state
Wewa boys 23rd
DADE CITY — Mikayla Hodges of Arnold placed 36th and Andrew Wyllie of Rutherford 40th in the boys and girls Class 2A state cross country meet held Saturday morning.
Hodges, a junior, was timed in 20 minutes, 35.84 seconds while becoming the first cross country runner to represent her school at a state meet. Shelby Davidson of Cocoa Beach won in 17:55.87 and Carrollton won the team title.
Wyllie ran 17:22.04 in the boys 5K race won by Bert Irigoyen of team champion Ransom Everglades in 15:57.00.
In the 1A meet, Wewahitchka’s boys team placed 23rd and Hunter Potts of Graceville was the leading area finisher. Potts was 37th in 17:28.08, Ryan Gousse of team champion Trinity Prep winning in 15:32.98.
Wewa runners were Jakob Bidwell, 83rd in 18:25.64; Nicholas Combs, 101st in 18:49.27; Micah Lister, 131st in 19:19.62; Michael Bryan, 150th in 19:45.27; Tyler Sarmiento, 153rd in 19:52.39; Shaquille Scott, 166th in 20:17.63 and Weston Sarmiento, 173rd in 21:09.78.
