Wednesday: The Nicholls State University baseball team will hold a free youth baseball clinic on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Southland Baseball Field in Houma. All skill levels and ages are welcome. The Colonels will then play an intrasquad scrimmage after the clinic.

Feb. 23: Ellender High’s football team will host a shrimp boil fundraiser at the school on Feb. 23. It will include one pound of boiled shrimp, potato, corn, crackers and dip. The cost is $10 per plate and checks should be made payable to Ellender High School. The deadline to place orders is at noon Feb. 21. There will be limited plates available on the day of the boil for last minute orders, which will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. An eight-plate minimum is required for delivery per order. Orders can also be picked up at Ellender High School. March 17: The LBA Naturals Baseball Team will hold a clay shoot fundraiser on March 17 at Bayou Country Sporting Clays, 279 Weatherby Lane Lot 4 in Houma. LBA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating and mentoring young athletes in baseball by providing a complete, balanced program in order to assure the development of each player. All proceeds from the clay shoot will help defray the costs for the 10U green and 12U baseball teams to participate in in-state and out-of-state tournaments.
