Today: Terrebonne Parish Recreation is currently holding registration for its fall sports -- bantam football (ages 7-12), cheerleading (ages 7-12) and girls volleyball (9-14 girls). Area gyms will accept registration for the first two weeks, and the final week will only be accept at the TPR Office (1192 Barrow St. in Houma) from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. p.m. Bantam football, cheerleading and volleyball registrations end on Aug. 4. Today: There will be a media session for all area high school football and volleyball head coaches on today from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. in the Terrebonne General Medical Center Community Sports Institute Locker Room (Conference Room). This is for high school coaches in Assumption, Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes. Coaches are asked to bring in team rosters and schedules. They are also asked to dress in school attire (collared school polo).  All media outlets from the bayou region have been invited to attend in efforts to preview the respective seasons of each of the schools. Today: Ellender High’s football team will hold a fundraiser event at the Chili’s restaurant location in Houma on Thursday. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. today at Chili’s located at 1539 Martin Luther King Blvd in Houma. The restaurant will donate 15 percent of the event day sales to Ellender’s football team each time a customer presents a flyer when ordering on Thursday. Flyers can be printed on the Terrebonne Parish School Board’s website and it will be handed out on the day of the event. Customers can also mention it to their waitress when ordering on July 20. Friday: Registration is being held for the 10th annual Pro Football Camp scheduled for Friday at John L. Guidry Stadium on the campus of Nicholls State University in Thibodaux. The camp, which is sponsored by Ortho-La and the Sports Medicine Center at Thibodaux Regional, is for high school athletes in grades 8-12. The cost is $50 for registration. Check-in for the camp will be held between 6:30 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. Friday in the stadium. The camp will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Walk-up participants are welcomed to register before the event starts on Friday. Athletes can print their registration forms on the camp’s website at and mail them (P.O. All students are asked to bring a helmet, cleats and indoor shoes, and a lunch will be provided. The camp is held every year by a dedicated group of current and former pro football players, college coaches and players and several area high school coaches. Dr. David Elias of Ortho-La said the participants will receive training tips from several current and former professional football players such as Jarvis Green, Skyler Green, Richard Dickson, Kevin Faulk, Trev Faulk, Phillip Livas, Eric Alexander, Ronnie Estay, John Fourcade and others. July 29: The Sports Medicine Center of Thibodaux Regional will hold a youth volleyball clinic on July 29 at the Thibodaux Regional’s Wellness Center gymnasium. The one-day clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants will learn fundamental skills of the game from former Assumption volleyball coach Sandy Fussell and other local area volleyball coaches. Boys and girls in grades fifth through eighth are invited to attend. The cost to attend is $20, which includes lunch, snacks and a clinic T-shirt. Space is limited to the first 80 participants. Aug. 1: Local tennis pro Umang Chadda will be holding a junior group tennis program throughout the month of August. The program is scheduled to begin Aug. 1 and will run until Aug. 31. The divisions are tiny tennis (ages 4-6), pee wee (ages 4-6), future stars (ages 8-10), all-stars (ages 10-14), super stars (ages 13-15) and academy (ages 13-18). Aug. 4: The Ellender High School powerlifting and volleyball teams will be jambalaya plate lunch fund raiser from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 4 at the school in Houma. The plate lunch costs $10 and will include chicken and sausage jambalaya with a role and dessert. Aug. 4-6: The Blake Terry Memorial Foundation will hold the Pirates of the Gulf Sixth Annual Fishing Rodeo on Aug. 4-5 at Moran’s Marina in Fourchon. Aug. 4-6: The Terrebonne Sportsman’s League is hosting its 67th Annual International Fishing Rodeo on Aug. 4-6. The weigh station, located at the East Park Recreation Center in Houma, is open from 2-6 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The scuba division closes at 2 p.m. Sunday. The rodeo will feature 35 categories in freshwater, offshore, shoreline, saltwater and scuba with catch-and-release divisions for tarpon.
