Re: Guest column, July 30, “Is it dangerous to participate in democracy?”

In response, I would say yes! This is especially true if you are a conservative or Republican speaker. This is true at any town hall meeting and really dangerous if you are a college campus.

I do not blame any conservative or Republican congressperson for having the local militia or any group, even “bikers,” to maintain order. The liberal left has stopped speakers at colleges with riots that caused damage and even injury to those who want to listen to the speakers. I have NOT heard of one liberal speaker being treated like this at a town hall or at a college.

I do agree, as you do, that there should be penalties for rioting, but not peaceful demonstrations. Maybe your group is non-violent but most liberal groups are not, especially on campuses. You will be safe in the conservative Panhandle. No one has asked me or any of my conservative friends to incite violence. But liberals are and are even being paid to riot and cause disruptions. And that is a fact and not a lie. As you said: “Let that sink in.”

So my advice to the author is avoid going to any conservative events but you can safely go to any liberal event.
