Four Arrested on Drug Charges

Washington County Sheriff's Office

The Washington County Drug Task Force, consisting of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Chipley Police Department reports the arrest of four Washington County residents on drug charges.

On Tuesday, Jan. 24 officers responded to 1729 Sleepy Hollow Lane after receiving information that methamphetamines were in active production at the residence. Upon arrival, officers asked for and were given consent to search the property and the vehicles located on the property.

Officers discovered electric hot plates, methamphetamines packaged in a baggy, an active shake and bake/one pot method lab actively producing meth, syringes, and multiple other items used in the manufacturing of methamphetamines.

Arrested and charged was:

Benjamin Joseph Grimes, 40, of Chipley with Manufacturing Methamphetamines, Possession of Controlled Substance (Methamphetamines), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Grimes is currently being held on a $27,500 bond at the Washington County Jail.

In a separate case, while on routine patrol early Wednesday Jan. 25, officers with WCSO performed a traffic stopped on a vehicle driving southbound on Highway 79 near Douglas Ferry Road for a traffic infraction.

While stopped, officers discovered that a passenger in the vehicle had an active warrant from a neighboring county.  In addition, a WCSO K9 did a sweep and alerted to the presence of illegal drugs.  During the search, one of the passengers was found in possession of a “meth pipe” that tested positive for the presence of methamphetamines.  Officers also found methamphetamines packaged in a baggy and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

Arrested and charged was:

Zachary Glenn Matthews, 18, of Vernon with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

James Dalton Davis, 18, of Vernon with Possession of Controlled Substance (Methamphetamines).

Jennifer Rebecca Culbertson, 32, of Bonifay with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, False Information to Law Enforcement, and Driving While License is Suspended or Revoked.

Sheriff Bobby Haddock asks that anyone with information on illegal drug activity contact the sheriff’s office at 638-TIPS (8477) or by email at tips@wcso.us.
