Search warrant leads to arrest for child porn

BONIFAY - A search warrant executed at a residence on Tracy Street in Bonifay turned up child pornography.

According to the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) press release the department along with Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), Bonifay Police Department and Bay County Sheriff’s Office participated in the investigation and search of the premises.

Forensic investigators from FDLE examined computer hardware and media storage devices. Approximately 50-60 photos and anadditional 50-60 videos depicting a sexual performance of a child were found.

Jason A. Van Avery, w/m, 21, was arrested and charged with promotion of the sexual performance of a child and possession of child pornography.

Additional charges are pending further forensic examination of the media storage devices. Van Avery was on state probation for drug offenses earlier this year.

Sheriff Dennis Lee said, “Information sharing among law enforcement agencies is what led to an arrest in this case.”
