TDC approves change of date for grant

CHIPLEY – The Washington County Tourist Development Council approved moving the date for a grant to the Chipley Woman’s Club for its annual bridal fair. Action was taken at the TDC’s regular meeting Monday evening.

The event was originally scheduled for Sept. 20 at the Washington County Ag Center but a scheduling conflict made it necessary to move the bridal fair to Jan. 17, 2010. The event will feature more than 25 vendors offering goods and services in a variety of different categories not just including weddings, ranging from anniversaries and reunions, to parties, to catering and other services.

The grant for $3,000 would be used to promote the event. Proceeds go toward the Woman’s Club scholarship program that provides a $2,000 scholarship to a local student to Chipola College.

The TDC also looked at plans for advertising in Florida-based publications in the coming year, with about $8,000 budgeted for that effort. The Council will research various publications for possible advertisement.
