Staff Report
WESTVILLE — Kyle Hudson, 31, of Westville has announced his candidacy for Holmes County Clerk of Court.
“Holmes County has been home to me for my lifetime,” Hudson announced Monday in a news release. “Since I was very young, I have had a keen interest in the government and welfare of our county, and the services it provides,” said Hudson.
“As your next Clerk of Court, I will be committed to continuing my professional development regarding services provided by the clerk’s office. In addition, I commit to providing the taxpayers of Holmes County with Triple “A” service —Accessibility, Accuracy and Accountability,” Hudson said.
Hudson attended Ponce de Leon High School and spent much of his extracurricular time involved with the Ponce de Leon FFA.
He continued his education at Chipola College to receive his associate’s degree; after which, he transferred to the University of Florida, earning a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and extension education.
Upon graduation from the University of Florida, he was employed with the Holmes County School District as agriculture teacher and FFA advisor at Ponce de Leon, where he has remained employed for the past 10 years.
In addition to his bachelor’s degree, Hudson also holds a master’s degree in educational leadership/administration from the University of West Florida and is currently nearing completion of a master’s degree in psychology with emphasis in applied behavior analysis. Hudson stressed that his teaching experience has not only allowed him to work with tomorrow’s leaders, but has given him the opportunity to work with county and state officials in planning and managing budgets involving state and federal dollars, write grants to aid in funding classroom learning projects, teach parliamentary law, and provide instruction in writing and interpreting legal document language, such as legal land descriptions.
Hudson intends to use his managerial and leadership skills as well as his knowledge of technology to continue to modernize services of the office, improve efficiency, and reduce costs to the taxpayerby maintaining the Holmes County tradition of fiscal discipline and accountability. All of this will be done while working daily to insure that the courteous, competent staff at the clerk’s office continues its custom of quality personal service!
Hudson is the son of Myron and Susan Hudson of Westville and has two children, Ashton, 7, and Loren, 4. He is a member of Northside Assembly of God Church in Bonifay and is involved with the children’s ministry and audio technology productions. He currently serves as a member of the Holmes County Fair Board, International Gideon’s Organization, and volunteer to Holmes County Teen Court.
Hudson said he can be contacted at 373-8941 or kylehudson80@me.com.
