Barfield appointed FDOT District Three Secretary

Chipley - Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Stephanie Kopelousos has appointed Chipley native James Thomas “Tommy” Barfield as District Secretary for District Three in Northwest Florida, which encompasses sixteen counties from Escambia in the west to Jefferson in the east. 

Tommy is a graduate of the University of Florida and is a registered Professional Engineer.  He started his career with the Department in 1986 as a Professional Engineer Trainee and has served in various capacities, including Production Engineer where he was responsible for the development and maintenance of the District’s Five Year Work Program.  Since 2003, Tommy has served as the District Director of Transportation Development.

During a recent staff meeting, Secretary Barfield said his vision for the District is “to give the people of Florida the transportation system they deserve.”
