Washington County recognizes school employees

Washington County District Teacher of the Year 2015

Chipley High School’s Richard Davenport was recognized as the 2015 Washington County School District Teacher of the Year during the Washington County School District Employee Recognition Reception on Thursday.

CHIPLEY — Washington County School District showed their appreciation with their annual Employee Recognition Reception held at Chipley High School on Thursday evening, recognizing the Teacher, Rookie Teacher and School Related Employee of the Year from each school before announcing who would be recognized by the District in each category.

“These are the backbone and the foundation of our educational system,” said Superintendent Joseph Taylor. “I see what they do for the students of our district, for our children and I am in awe of the love, dedication and sheer talent each one possess. I want them to know that they are loved and appreciated, each and every one of them.”

Representing the District Teacher of the Year is Chipley High School’s Richard Davenport; for District Rookie Teacher of the Year is Vernon High School’s Sabrina Woods; and School Related Employee of the Year is Washington-Holmes Technical Center’s Shirley Thompson.

Each received their individual awards as well.

For Teacher of the Year Nominees went to Chipley High School’s Richard Davenport, Kate Smith Elementary School’s Kimberly Kartzog, Roulhac Middle School’s Jiranda Blount White, Vernon Elementary School’s Amy Brown, Vernon High School’s Sally Brock, Vernon Middle School’s Kimberly Brown and Washington-Holmes Technical Center’s Curtis Green.

For Rookie Teacher of the Year Nominees went to Chipley High School’s William Chomos, to Kate Smith Elementary School’s Kimberly Tuel, to Roulhac Middle School’s Christine Chomos, to Vernon Elementary School’s Nicholas Winslow, to Vernon High School’s Sabrina Woods, to Vernon Middle School’s Rodgers Coleman and to Washington-Holmes Technical Center’s Sherri Skipper.

For School Related Employee of the Year Nominees went to Chipley High School’s Hazel “Miss Tina” Finch, Kate Smith Elementary School’s Jeannie Davidson, Roulhac Middle School’s Felisha McIntyre, Vernon Elementary School’s Jennifer Taylor, Vernon High School’s Judy Tison, to Washington-Holmes Technical Center’s Shirley Thompson, to District Office/Data/Media/WISE’s Jan Paul, to Chipley Bus Garage’s Traci Grimes and to Vernon Bus Garage’s Jennifer Snowden.
