Vernon High holds graduation ceremony

VERNON — Eighty young men and women said farewell to Vernon High School on Thursday, May 30, when graduation exercises for the Class of 2013 were held on Memorial Field at Yellow Jacket Stadium.

The class included 10 Summa Cum Laude graduates: Destiny Star Brady, Bailey Deanna Burch, Destiny Alyssa Clayton, Stephanie Denice Gipson, Hunter Cole Hambright, Alana Louise Hearn, Raymond Earl Palmer, Robert Lee Patton, Carolyn Renee Poppell and Nicholas Marshall Porter.  Stephanie Gipson was the Summa Cum Laude speaker.

There were two Magna Cum Laude graduates: Kaitlin Delaney Burke, who also was the Magna Cum Laude speaker, and Kaitlyn Michelle Qualls.

Class President Destiny Clayton delivered the welcoming address, while Chanice Bowers, class vice president, led the Pledge of Allegiance and Kaitlyn Burke sang the National Anthem.
