VERNON — Forty parents, guardians and concerned community leaders of children in Vernon area schools met with the Washington County School District superintendent, principals and board members on Sunday.
Superintendent Joseph Taylor, school board member, Milton Brown, Vernon Elementary School Principal Chris Beard, Vernon Middle School Principal Kimberly Register, and Vernon High School Principal Brian Riviere were in attendance.
The educational forum covered several important topics: End Of Course Exams, Parent Portal, Parent Teacher Conferences / Parent Administration Conferences, Future planning for educational success, Honors Classes (AP and Dual Enrollment), Athletics, GPAs and communication.
A special thank you to Superintendent Taylor, Mr. Brown, Mr. Bear, Mrs. Register and Mr. Riviere for meeting with the community to foster a better understanding of current and future programs.
The Community Education Initiative at St. Luke AME Church sponsored Sunday’s session. The Initiative meets each Sunday from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. and provides tutoring and homework help for children K-12.
Thirty students participated in today’s tutoring session.
