Local High School Students Honored At Woman’s Club Meeting

Mrs. Elsie Gainey, chairperson of the Conservation Department, presented Backyard Conservation books to each member present. This colorful, informative book gives great tips and projects for bringing conservation from the countryside to the backyard.

Mrs. Jan Whitcomb gave a final report on the success of the 2013 Bridal, Prom, and Special Event Expo.  She reported a total of 23 vendors participating, many of which have already indicated that they will participate again in 2014.  Mrs. Whitcomb thanked all club members for contributing to the success of the Expo.

President Christmas also announced that a check was being presented to the Washington County Sheriffs Department to support their efforts in working with the youth of the county to remain drug free.

The club members enjoyed a delicious lunch of Bar B Q ribs with all he trimmings prepared by members of the Arts Department.  President Christmas complimented all departments for the work that they have done in each of their areas. To dismiss the meeting, President Christmas led the group in reciting the Club Collect.

The Woman’s Club of Chipley is the oldest civic organization in the city, and has continuously supported various local charities since its founding in 1921.
