Local High School Students Honored At Woman’s Club Meeting

 CHIPLEY — The Woman’s Club of Chipley held its monthly meeting at the clubhouse on Feb. 13.

The Chipley High School FFA Parliamentary Procedure Team presented a demonstration of their award winning skills. Ms. Michelle Kurtz, CHS FFA advisor, gave a synopsis of the club’s activities. She reported that there are 150 students enrolled in the various Agriculture classes at Chipley High School with 100 members of the FFA. 

She also reported on the club’s plans and activities to celebrate National FFA Week. The members of the Woman’s Club expressed their appreciation for the students attending the luncheon and congratulated them on their many awards and activities. Mrs. Carolyn Saunders then introduced the young ladies in attendance who are members of the Chipley High School Juniorettes. Mrs. Saunders gave a report on the current activities of this group, which is sponsored by the Woman’s Club.

Mrs. Christmas presented a check to Habitat for Humanity to help fund their endeavors in providing adequate, comfortable and safe housing for those citizens who might otherwise never own their own home.  Mrs. Becky Yates accepted the donation on behalf of Habitat for Humanity and invited the ladies to volunteer in the Habitat Thrift Store on Main Street.

Mrs. Dorothy Clarke presented information about the Literacy Volunteers and encouraged club members to get involved with this very worthwhile program.

Additionally, a check was presented to Friends o f the Library to aid in their support of the Washington County Public Library System.  Mrs. Nell Roberts accepted on behalf of the Friends.
