BONIFAY — On Dec. 16, Florida First Lady Ann Scott visited Bonifay Elementary School where she read to 18 students in Ms. Brazile’s 2nd Grade classroom and answered their questions.
First Lady Ann Scott has been visiting elementary and middle schools across the state since Gov. Scott took office in 2011 to promote reading and help students develop an appreciation for reading that will last a lifetime. To date, she has visited more than 100 Florida schools.
As part of her commitment to reading and literacy, she is currently traveling the state for Celebrate Literacy Week. She is visiting eight schools and participating in an event at the Kennedy Space Center where she will present awards to the student winners of the Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida! 2014 PSA contest. "As a mother, I shared my passion for reading with my daughters and it brings me immense joy to see them continuing the family tradition as they read to our three young grandsons,” said Scott. “Now, as Florida's First Lady, I am honored to have the opportunity to help our state's students develop an appreciation for reading that will help them achieve goals throughout their lives."
