The day would start with a parade at 9:30 a.m. at the Bonifay Elementary School and then move down Waukesha Street and end at the Holmes County High School.

At the Holmes County High School gym there will be a Banner Ceremony followed by lunch of hamburgers and hotdogs, which will be provided by the Bonifay Fire Department.

“It’s Bonifay’s way of showing just how so very proud we are of our boys as they’re the first to bring home a State Championship in the history of Holmes County,” said Williams.

Superintendent Eddie Dixon said he was able to watch them in Lakeland that they “represented Holmes County well.”

“We’re just proud of the whole bunch,” said Dixon. “They defeated five higher ranked teams and showed great sportsmanship while they did it.”

HCSD member Sid Johnson said he was just as proud of the Junior Beta Club as he was of the boys’ basketball team.

“We’ve got state champions there too,” said Johnson.
