Rum Road at Parrot Creek Bridge Project Begins
Chipley – Construction activities on Rum Road at Parrot Creek Bridge in Holmes County have begun. Over the next couple of months crews from F and W Construction Company will be clearing trees and shrubs from the work area.
The $1.7 million project, located one mile north of State Road 2, consists of constructing a new two- lane concrete bridge with drainage upgrades and paved roadway approaches both north and south of the bridge. The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2011.
Motorists can expect periodic lane closures and temporary detours during construction. Residents along Rum Road, P.C. Black Road, Yancey Road, and Buster Cowean Road, north of the existing bridge will use County Road 179 A/E. Skyline Avenue (Alabama County Road 33) as a detour.
