One arrested for aggravated battery

PONCE DE LEON – A Holmes County man has been arrested for aggravated battery after he accused an employee of stealing $30,000 and allegedly attacked him Monday with a baseball bat.

Sgt. John Tate of the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office said that Lowell Kelly, owner of Vortex Springs, believed that one of his employees, Bill Howes, had stolen $30,000 from Kelly’s home. Tate said that Kelly took Howes out on Valley Road off of State 81 Monday ostensibly to look at a job.

When they got to a field on the road Tate said Kelly confronted Howes about the alleged theft that Howes denied. Kelly then allegedly pulled a baseball bat out the back of his truck and assaulted Howes, causing injuries that required stitches.

Kelly is charged with aggravated battery, a felony charge. Tate said Kelly has been released on bond.

I know for fact that before MrKelly attacked MrHowes he confronted Howes about the money situtaion in the woods. When MrHowes denied such MrKelly then proceeded to ask him again. Getting heated and feeling offended MrHowes reached for a plow and started at MrKelly. In self defense being quite smaller than MrHowes MrKelly reached for the bat and proceeded with the self defense. Some of you are right yes that MrKelly has obtained a substantial amount of money. But he just like others in this economy has lost plenty. Whomever wrote this article obviously needs to do more research.

I have a son who worked for Kelly at the Vortex spring under Mr. Shane Schuller. He was fired by Kelly for talking with the people who used to own the property. Do research, Look up Lowell B. Kelly in Destin, Florida and Court arrest records of Walton, Okaloosa and Escambia County. Bad man or just vengeful.

How does Jay Felsberg become a managing editor? Was this article properly researched? No. Holmes county Court Records which are public record, show the correct spelling of the defendant William Howes last name. This article describes actions of kidnapping and attempted murder. this is quite a bit more serious than aggravated battery. Only in North Florida does an individual, charged with a felon, walks down to the sheriff's office, have a cup of coffee, and post bail without arrest. Yep, "good ole boy network" is alive and well.

I for a fact know that Mr. Kelly is an upstanding citizen who helps many people. He gives to charities and is always looking out for others. Mr. Kelly would not strike out without due cause.

I know for a fact that Mr. Kelly has a felony record already. He also reportedly has many millions of dollars. Lets see if he is treated like the rest of us would be.

Got what he deserved? You can not be real. So lets just all take the law into our own hands and throw the judicial system out the window I guess. It is about time Lowell Kelly get caught for his malicious acts. He walks around feeling as though he walks above the law. Sooner or later it all comes out. Lowell Kelly is no better than anyone else in our neighborhood and it is about time he come to grips with the fact that he can not continue to walk on people. Oh yes, and for the record, NO ONE DESERVES TO BE BEATEN WITH A BASEBALL BAT!
