Chipley police announce arrest

The Chipley Police Department reports the arrest of a local man after being stopped in a routine traffic stop in Chipley recently.  Chief Crews states that Joseph Ewing of Wausau was in the Chipley area recently and was stopped when Chipley Police Officer James Webb observed Ewing commit a traffic infraction.  During the course of the traffic stop, Officer Webb discovered a quantity of Cocaine and Marijuana in Ewing's vehicle.  Ewing was subsequently arrested and charged with Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Marijuana.  Chief Crews goes on to say that because Ewing was driving his vehicle and the drugs were located inside the vehicle, Ewing's vehicle was seized and the Chipley Police Department has filed for forfeiture of the vehicle.  Crews states "People have to be aware that if you buy, sell, or possess drugs, you not only loose your freedom, but your property as well."  Please continue to call in with your tips at 638-6310.
