Bay DUI manslaughter suspect arrested

PANAMA CITY – Investigators of the Florida Highway Patrol announced today they concluded
the traffic homicide investigation of a traffic crash that occurred on September 19, 2008 at 02:45
a.m. The crash occurred in Bay County on State Road 30 (U.S. 98), approximately 0.3 miles east
of Lyndell Lane.

At the time of the crash, Alexander P. Register of Panama City, Florida, was driving eastbound on
State Road 30 in a 1994 Chevrolet Corvette. Register lost control of his vehicle and it traveled
onto the south shoulder of the roadway. The Corvette struck a concrete retaining wall, utility pole
and the concrete retaining wall a second time before it came to rest in a water filled ditch. Robert
T. McKerring, a passenger in the right front seat of the Corvette, was ejected during the crash.
Robert T. McKerring sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash.

On April 13, 2009, arrest warrants were issued for Alexander P. Register for DUI Manslaughter
and Leaving the Scene of a Traffic Crash Involving a Death. Both charges are first degree
felonies.

On April 14, 2009, Alexander P. Register surrendered to authorities at the Bay County Jail where
he was booked for the above listed charges.
