New dean named at FSU-PC

Panama City, Fla. – Robert Bradley, Vice President for Planning and Programs at The Florida State University, announced that effective August 4, 2009, Ken Shaw has been named dean of The Florida State University Panama City campus.  “We believe that Ken has the ability to move the campus forward and implement the changes and programs needed to meet the goals of the campus’ future enrollment growth plan,” stated Bradley.

Bradley also announced that current dean George DePuy has asked to be reassigned within the university and will work on a number of special projects. “On behalf of the Florida State University, we appreciate George DePuy's work while dean at the Panama City campus.  His efforts contributed mightily to the new look of the campus, the new library and our new laboratories," stated Bradley.

“At this point in my career, I have asked to be reassigned,” stated DePuy. “I know that Ken Shaw has the energy and vision to implement the future growth plans being developed now for the FSU Panama City campus.  I am very pleased that he is willing to assume the dean’s position and have no doubt that he will serve our students, the university and the community very well in this role.”

Shaw has been a mathematics education faculty member at FSU Panama City since 1989. He has twice served as interim dean for the campus when former deans Larson M. Bland and Edward N. Wright retired.  He was named associate dean in April 2000.  Shaw received a B.A. degree in mathematics from Southern Adventist University, a M.S. in mathematics from Middle Tennessee State University and an Education Doctorate in mathematics education from the University of Georgia.
