(Miller’s Ferry Road to Court Street)
Chipley- The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a Public Information Meeting regarding proposed roadway improvements to State Road 79 from north of CR 284 (Miller’s Ferry Road) to Court Street in the city of Vernon. The meeting will be held Thursday, September 4, 2008, from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. (CST), at the Vernon Community Center, 2808, Yellow Jacket Drive, Vernon, FL.
The SR 79 project consists of widening the existing two lane roadway to create a four lane divided facility from north of CR 284 (Miller’s Ferry Road.) to Court Street. The proposed roadway will consist of both “rural” (swale and ditch) and “urban” (curb and gutter) sections. In addition to the roadway construction, the project will include construction of seven retention ponds for treatment of storm water. Additional right of way will be required on both sides of the existing roadway to accommodate the proposed widening and the retention facilities. The project is approximately 6.5 miles in length.
Maps, drawings and other information will be on display. FDOT representatives will be available to explain the improvements and answer questions. There will not be a formal presentation or public testimony period. Public participation is solicited.
