CHIPLEY — A woman was arrested Wednesday for aggravated battery following an incident of domestic violence near Vernon, according to a Washington County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Barbara “Beth” Elizabeth Barnes, 42, of Chipley, was arrested in connection with charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon/domestic violence.
Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a call at about 10 p.m. from a person who claimed to have been severely cut by a scalpel.
Washington County EMS arrived at the address on Highway 79 within minutes and transported the victim to Bay Medical in Panama City. The victim was listed in critical condition, according to the sheriff’s office.
Shortly before 11 p.m., the sheriff’s office investigators were contacted by the Holmes County Sheriff officers, who had officers in contact with Barnes.
Barnes had allegedly contacted officers to report her role in the incident.
An arrest warrant was obtained and Barnes was taken into custody.
