Westville man arrested after pursuit

PONCE de LEON — A traffic violation led to the pursuit and arrest of a Westville man last Sunday, Feb. 9.

A Holmes County deputy observed a Pontiac four-door sedan fail to stop at the intersection of Highway 90 and Highway 81 in Ponce de Leon around 9:45 p.m.

The deputy activated his emergency equipment to signal the vehicle to stop, however, the vehicle accelerated and attempted to elude the deputy.

The driver then led deputies on a 25-minute pursuit, which ended in Geneva County, AL after the vehicle crashed.

The driver, 44 year-old Bruce Jerome Corbin, was then placed under arrest. A search resulted in the seizure of a rifle from the front seat, and ammunition from Corbin’s possession.

Corbin is charged with fleeing and attempting to elude, reckless driving, driving while license suspended or revoked, felon in possession of a firearm and attaching tag not assigned.
