WAUSAU — The Wausau Town Council held a special workshop Thursday evening to begin interviewing candidates for the job of city clerk.

Three candidates were interviewed, and a fourth candidate, who was out of town due to a family emergency, will be interviewed Monday, said City Clerk Margaret Riley.

The special workshop which was called for the interviewing was recessed until 7 p.m. Monday, July 29, when the final candidate will be interviewed, Riley said.

Riley is retiring from the city in September after 17 years with the city.

The final decision on hiring the new clerk will be made on Aug. 8 at the Wausau Town Council's next regular meeting.
