CHIPLEY — Washington County Schools will be closed Tuesday, Aug. 20 for students and teachers.
Administrative staff should report for duty. School Officials are coordinating with transportation personnel and Washington County Public Works to identify alternate bus routes in anticipation of school opening on Wednesday, August 21.
A Local State of Emergency is in effect in Washington County.
Citizens are urged to limit travel to essential. Impacts to county roads have been severe and Public Works personnel have been overwhelmed with response calls. Dangerous washouts are being reported throughout the county and particularly in those areas hit hardest during the July flood event. A list of road closures is posted on the Washington County website www.washingtonfl.com<http://www.washingtonfl.com/>. However, travelers should not assume roads are safe because a road is not listed on the website and there are no warning signs posted.
State Road 77 south of Interstate-10 at Blue Lake remains closed. FDOT crews are on scene and continue their efforts to alleviate the problem.
