The Washington County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the State of Florida has approved our filing for an expansion to the Washington County Enterprise Zones in both Vernon and Ebro.
The Chamber of Commerce began this process in 2013 with the assistance and support of Rep. Marti Coley to expand the Enterprise Zone boundaries of all the RACEC Counties (Rural Areas of Critical Economic Concern) within the state. The legislation was passed and the Washington County Chamber worked with both Vernon and Ebro to expand their Enterprise Zones boundaries. This expansion will have a positive effect on any new or expanding business in multiple ways: If you are an “S” Corporation, sole proprietor, partnership or LLC and create new jobs, you can deduct a portion of those salaries as credits (up to 45% for 24 months) against sales tax your business pays the State of Florida or get a refund of FL Sales Tax for building materials used to physically expand or rehabilitate your facility. The Enterprise Zone programs provide economic incentives to attract new jobs and opportunities to Washington County.
According to the Washington County Enterprise Zone Coordinator, Ted Everett, "The expansion of these two Enterprise Zones will now allow for a greater opportunity for increased financial incentives for new, expanding and/or relocating businesses who create jobs and make capital investments in both Ebro and Vernon."
As the administrator of the Enterprise Zone program in Washington County, it has been a goal of the Chamber of Commerce to enlarge these areas as they go through the transitions caused by the widening of S.R. 79. The Enterprise Zones in both Ebro and Vernon have been increased by 1.5 miles each.
The expansion approval is retro-active to January 1, 2014.
The Washington County Chamber of Commerce believes in Washington County and wishes to thank Atkins Global and Southeastern Surveying & Mapping for their many hours of assistance in mapping these expansions.
