A Washington County teenager shot herself in the leg and is being treated at a hospital in Pensacola, Florida wildlife officials said Monday.

Andrea Hope Wright, 16,  was getting on a four-wheeler at about 10 a.m. Sunday to go deer hunting when her shotgun discharged and struck her in the right leg, according to a news release from Florida's Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Wright's uncle was nearby and came to her aid. She was eventually flown to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola and went into surgery Sunday afternoon.

FWC officials are investigating the incident.
