CHIPLEY — A Tallahassee man died Sunday when he lost control of his 2003 Mazda PK and struck a tree in the median of Interstate 10 in Washington County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
Steve Wayne Wagner, 49, of Tallahassee was eastbound on I-10 near mile marker 106 when the left rear tire of his Mazda began to lose the tread. Wagner’s steering caused the vehicle to leave the roadway and enter the median, where the car began to spin before hitting several trees, according to the report.
The Mazda came to rest facing south. Wagner was wearing his seatbelt, according to the report, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Wagner was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Panama City.
