CHIPLEY – The Washington County Planning Commission is looking to change nonconforming land use classifications in an effort to update county land use maps.

County Senior Planner Mike DeRuntz says the goal is to correct some inconsistencies.

“As designed, the proposed changes won’t change how properties can be used,” said DeRuntz. “It will only serve the purpose of cleaning up the map and reflecting more accurately how property is actually used. This will not affect property tax assessments in any way, and most of the proposed classifications won’t affect individual properties.”
