Planning Commission chairwoman resigns

Hagan was the mayor of Wausau and the county’s public safety director and was a county employee for 36 years. He retired from both the Wausau Town Council and the county in December.

The commissioners were scheduled to choose a new slate of officers on Tuesday, and with Pippin leaving, none of the present commissioners wanted to accept the chairman’s office. After much discussion, Commissioner David Morris agreed to serve as vice chairman, and Commissioner Al Keown was nominated as chairman.

Keown was absent from Tuesday’s meeting.

In other business, the planning commissioners approved a variance request submitted by Vicky Williams and Quinton Kirkland for residential use in a commercial area. Williams seeks to build a residence on her property at 1164 Falling Waters Road but on the Future Land Use Map the property is designated as commercial property.
