District 2 County Commissioner Joel Pate is hoping to retain his seat on the Washington County Board of Commissioners.

Pate is a 1957 graduate of Chipley High School and retired as Senior Project Manager from the Florida Department of Transportation after serving 34 years as a draftsman.

He was recently selected to co-chair the Florida Association of Small Counties legislative caucus and has been part of several notable projects, such as recent efforts to secure funding to build the new county courthouse.

"I feel I'm the most qualified for this seat because I'm experienced and have taken every class the Florida Association of Counties has offered related to my role as a commissioner and serving the taxpayers," said Pate. "My goal is to continue to build a stronger relationship with FDOT and improve our roads."

Pate is currently serving his second term as District 2 County Commissioner.
