An Alford man is in critical condition this week after being struck by a vehicle while he was riding his bicycle.

Kasey Combs, 20, was traveling southbound on Kirkland Road in Chipley around 4:16 p.m. Saturday, April 5 on a Huffy bicycle when the incident occurred.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, Combs failed to stop at a stop sign and traveled into the path of a 2007 Ford F-150, which was traveling westbound on County Road 273.

The FHP reports the truck’s driver, 79-year old Walter Hayes of Bonifay, was unable to stop and struck Combs’ bicycle. Combs was ejected of the bicycle and into the ditch on the north side of CR 273.

No injuries are reported for Hayes, however, Combs was transported to Bay Medical and is listed in critical condition.
