Board approved of Resolution 12-13, at Eubanks’ request, to apply for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to renovate the Holmes County Agricultural Center in efforts to revive the Farmer’s Market.

“It’s a request for $20,000 to revive the Farmer’s Market,” said Eubanks. “We’re going to possibly drop the ceiling on the Ag Center for $14,000, get a new fire alarm system for $3,000 and use $3,000 to renovate some of the rooms to possibly rent out. It’s a 40 percent match and in-kind contributions in material and labor count towards the 40 percent.”

Eubanks also informed the board that they would be treating the cogongrass problem as soon as possible.

County Engineer Cliff Knauer approached the board and said the process toward building a boat ramp on the West end portion of the Choctawhatchee River off of Highway 90 in Holmes County.

The board approved of a resolution stating that the board approved to apply for the Florida Boating Improvement Program through the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation to build a boat ramp on Sept. 11.

“The water levels are looking good now, but when they go down there’s nowhere to put your boat in anywhere in Holmes County,” said Commissioner Jim King. “This will be a valuable asset to the residents in Holmes County.”

Knauer explained all they needed was the Florida Department of Transportation’s permission to use their right-of-way and requested that Goodman send a “strongly worded letter” so the project could move forward.
