TALLAHASSEE — The National Weather Service in Tallahassee has issued a flood warning for the Choctawhatchee River near Caryville from late Sunday night until further notice or until the warning is cancelled.

Heavy rainfall across southeast Alabama and the Florida panhandle this morning will result in the forecast potential for additional heavy rainfall over the weekend that will cause a rise in river levels at many locations along the Choctawhatchee.

At 10 a.m. Friday the stage was 10.2 feet.  Minor flooding is forecast.  Flood stage is 12.0 feet.

The river is forecast to rise above flood stage by Monday morning and continue to rise to near 14.8 feet by Wednesday morning. Additional rises are possible thereafter. Impact at 12.0 feet could include extensive lowland flooding.
