HOLMES COUNTY — Florida Highway Patrol reported a wreck that claimed the life of a Gainesville man, critically injured Pensacola woman and seriously injured three on the evening of July 28 on Interstate 10, mile marker 101 at Westville.
According to the report Fredrick Singleton, 24, of Gainesville was driving a 2005 Ford Expedition headed East on Interstate 10 and Elaine Foshee, 58, of Pensacola was driving a 2005 Honda Van headed West on Interstate 10 when Singleton’s tire separated, causing him to loose control, travel into the center median.
Singleton’s vehicle then began spin into the westbound lanes of travel into the path of Foshee’s van, where they collided and caused Singleton’s Expedition to flip, according to the report.
Singleton’s passenger, Dwight Knowles, 57, of Gainesville was pronounced dead at the scene while Singleton and his remaining passengers, Lillie Singleton, 42, of Gainesville and Kathy Allen, 47, of Panama City were taken to Doctors Memorial Hospital to be treated for serious injuries, according to the report.
Foshee was sent to Bay Medical Center in critical condition.
According to the report everyone was wearing seatbelts and alcohol was not related.
