1998 Ponce de Leon High School graduate Mickey Locke has officially announced his candidacy for the District 2 Holmes County Commission seat.

Locke grew up in the Prosperity Community of Holmes County with his parents, Billy and Vicki Locke, and still lives there with his wife, Michelle Garner Locke.

After high school, Locke began working at Woodward Cabinets while continuing his education at Chipola College. In 2001, he began working for the Holmes County Emergency Medical Services as an Emergency Medical Technician and has continued to serve the county as an EMT for the last 13 years.

In addition to working for Holmes County EMS, Locke runs two businesses: Reel Addiction Charters, LLC and Rocke Construction, LLC and is a licensed Florida Roofing Contractor with ten years in the construction business. He also earned his license as a Charter Boat Captain after completing Sea School in 2010.

Locke states it's important to have elected officials in place who keep the views of the people in mind when making decisions - and those decisions need to be sound when it comes to the spending of local and state tax dollars.

"Holmes County is where I was raised and where I still call home," said Locke. "I would consider it a privilege to be given the chance to work for and represent the citizens of Holmes County, and I would keep their views in mind by staying connected with the community."
