Choctawhatchee River flooding expected

BONIFAY -- The following is issued by the Holmes County Emergency Management Office at 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 4.

Due to excessive rainfall amounts and the flash flood Watch in place currently for Holmes County, we strongly urge all residents to travel only when necessary. This is an extremely dangerous situation.  Please heed all state and local warnings and barricades as posted.  Road crews and law enforcement are continuing to respond to reported hazardous road conditions.

 All residents along the Choctawhatchee River should closely monitor rising waters as well as those individuals living along creeks and streams, and low-lying areas.  Minor flooding is forecast for the Choctawhatchee River cresting at 15 Foot on July 7.
