BONIFAY - Nearly 10,000 came out for the Panhandle Patriotic Celebration event Sunday, held at the Bonifay Recreation Field. That number is up from an attendance of about 7,000 last year.
Presented by the Holmes County Baptist Association, the event featured live gospel and contemporary music, vendors, and the largest fireworks display in Holmes or Washington counties.
The Teen Challenge Color Guard opened the event with the presenting of the colors and with Amy Alderman singing the national anthem, followed by performances by Four Calvary, the Drummond Family, and Ron Prince.
This was the 11th year for the celebration, and more than 40 churches were on hand to give out free food, literature, and provide games for the children.
