GRACEVILLE — Holmes County Sheriff’s Office reported that they are currently investigation the suspicious death of Tony Ray Armstrong, 47, of Graceville and child neglect after a 911 call on June 17.
According to the report Hazel Denise Peacock, 35, of Graceville called the Holmes County Communications Center and said that her boyfriend, Armstrong, had fallen down the front steps of their home and landed on his knife.
When Holmes County Emergency Management Services along with deputies from the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office arrived, they found Armstrong with a severe knife wound to his chest, according to the report.
According to the report, Armstrong was transported to Flowers Hospital, underwent surgery but never regained consciousness and died a few days after.
While deputies were at the house deputies noticed signs of drug use in and around the house, the Department of Children and Families were notified and they found that Peacock’s 16-month-old child had been exposed to methamphetamine, according to the report.
Peacock was arrested and charged with neglect of child, introduction to contraband and possession of certain drugs without a prescription on July 30 and while being booked into the Holmes County Jail several Tamadol pills were found hidden in Peacock’s bra and groin area, according to the report.
Peacock remains in the Holmes County Jail as the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office continues an investigation into Armstrong’s death with the assistance of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the State Attorney’s Office and the Medical Examiner’s Office.
