ST. JOHNS COUNTY — Gov. Rick Scott was joined by Adjutant General of Florida National Guard Major General Emmett R. Titshaw, Jr. at Bartram Trail High School to commemorate Patriot Day on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Scott reflected on the terrorist attacks of 9/11 and awarded Jacksonville’s Michael James Jones, veteran of the US Coast Guard, with the Governor’s Veterans Service Award for his service to Florida and the nation.

“Today we honor those who lost their lives in the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 and pray for the survivors and family members who were affected that tragic day. We also reflect on the importance of our military, law enforcement and emergency responder heroes who serve and sacrifice to protect our families in Florida and our nation. Ann and I hope this day will further strengthen our honor and respect for all those who serve us, our love for this great nation, and the many freedoms we enjoy,” Scott said.
