CHIPLEY — A benefit softball game has been planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Caryville softball fields. Entry fee is $125 for a full team and all proceeds will go to benefit Ranie Grimmer and Thomas Leonard.
Six teams have been confirmed for the softball games and there will be concessions and raffles at the ballpark as well.
Ranie Grimmer is a cancer patient and is also an expectant mother in her 31st week of pregnancy. She has been diagnosed with stage three papillary follicular cancer, along with metgenetetrahdofolate reductase disease and leukemia.
She has to travel to Pensacola on a daily basis for treatment. The cost of the fuel and other expenses have prevented her from making it to all of her appointments, however, the doctor has made it clear these trips are necessary for the survival of her and the baby. She has two other small children and her husband is currently seeking work. She is having a hard time with the cost of every day living as well as paying for monthly bills. She is in need of any donation, and also needs things for a baby boy who will be delivered in two weeks.
Diapers, wipes, clothes, lotions etc would be greatly appreciated. Used items are just as much appreciated as new.
Thomas Leonard was involved in a motorcycle wreck and has three children and no insurance.
Come enjoy a good game of softball, or come just to watch and support Ranie Grimmer and Thomas Leonard.
There will also be a fundraiser car wash at O’Reilly’s in Chipley on Nov. 9 from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
If you are interested in purchasing a Boston butt the cost is $20; they will be available by pickup or delivery on Nov. 8. To purchase a Boston butt, contact one of the people listed below.
