Fatal wreck reported in Holmes County

HOLMES COUNTY — Florida Highway Patrol reported a fatal wreck that occurred on I-10 mile marker 109 on Sunday night involving three vehicles with two injured and one dead.

According to the report Breanna Harrison, 22, of Dothan, Ala., driving a 2005 Nissan Altima, was traveling east on the inside of the westbound lane of State Road 8, also known as Interstate 10.

At that time Ashley Curriston, 24, of Niceville, driving a 2003 Toyota four-door was traveling west on the inside of the westbound lane of State Road 8 and Willie Haynie, 51, of Palmetto, Ga., driving a freight commercial vehicle, was traveling west on the inside of the westbound lane when the front left of Harrison’s vehicle collided with the front left of Curriston’s vehicle and both vehicles rotated in a counter-clockwise direction.

Harrison’s vehicle came to a rest facing north on the median of State Road 8, however Curriston’s vehicle came to a rest on the inside westbound lane of State Road 8, where Haynie’s vehicle collided with the right side of Curriston’s vehicle, according to the report.

After the collision Curriston’s vehicle and Haynie’s vehicle crossed the outside westbound lane and entered the north shoulder of State Road 8 where Haynie’s vehicle overturned onto its right side and Curriston’s vehicle came to a final rest facing the north direction in a ditch nor of State Road 8.

Curriston was pronounced deceased at the scene by Holmes County EMS personnel, Harrison was sent to Southeast Medical Center in Dothan, Ala. with serious injuries and Haynie left with only minor injuries, according to the report.

All were reported wearing their seatbelts.
