Down Home Street Festival brings fun to Bonifay

BONIFAY — This weekend the fifth annual Down Home Street Festival brings fun to Bonifay, beginning Friday night with “Pickin’ in the Park.”

The free event starts at 6 p.m. at Middlebrooks Park and is the prelude to a full day of activities planned for Saturday.

Saturday starts out with a 5K Run/Walk, and will also feature a “Bakin’ War,” outdoor entertainment, arts and crafts vendors, Native American displays and dancing and lots of food.

There will be a General Lee Reunion at the Down Home Car Show with “Deputy Enos,” Sonny Shroyer, from the Dukes of Hazard TV show at the Bonifay Down Home Street Festival on Saturday at Veterans Park in Bonifay.

Shroyer will be entertaining with song and visiting with the audience.

Saturday’s Car and Truck Show will feature a top 50, 50/50 drawing and dash plaques for entries. Registration will be from 8 to 10 a.m. with awards being given at 2:30 p.m. The entry fee is $20 per car or truck. There will be autograph sessions with Shroyer, music and much more.

This year’s festival will also boast a “Bakin’ Wars” at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. There will be two divisions, youth and adult.
