PONCE de LEON — Walton County deputies arrested a Ponce de Leon man on charges of violating a domestic violence injunction and aggravated stalking, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

On Sunday morning, Sept. 15, deputies with the Walton County Sheriff’s Office arrested William Dunsmore, 28, of 2159 Douglass Crossroad, Ponce de Leon, in connection with charges of violating a domestic violence injunction and aggravated stalking.

Deputies responded to 460 Squirrel Haven Road in Defuniak Springs shortly after 10 a.m. when Dunsmore’s stepfather, Arthur Tellander, called stating that Dunsmore was in violation of an existing restraining order that prevents him from being within 500 feet of the residence. Deputies found Dunsmore was sitting in a van in the front yard of the residence, according to the report.  Dunsmore, who has extensive history with the sheriff’s office and is known to carry a weapon, was asked several times to show his hands.

In response to his failure to follow instructions, the deputy withdrew his weapon as a precaution.  Dunsmore was detained by deputies, and two knives used for hunting were confiscated from his person.

Dunsmore was taken to the Walton County Jail.
